Flame Eared Finch – brooch

A very handsome bird, indeed! Also referred to as a Red Eared Fire Tailed Finch, they are native to Western Australia and live in undergrowth and dense vegetation. They make the largest nest of all the finches in clumps of leaves and grow to about 11cms (approx 4″).
